Transitions are motion effects that when in Slide Show view add movement to your slides as you advance from one slide to another.Transition is an effect that happens between each photo, slide, or video clip. Whenever you have seen a PowerPoint presentation that had special effects between each slide, you’ve seen slide transitions.   By default, Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 provides you with an ample choice of transitions that can be applied to the presentation. The transitions can be adjusted in Microsoft PowerPoint by clicking on the Transitions tab. In the Transitions section you will see different available Transitions and can click the down arrows to scroll through and view all available Transitions. Clicking on any of the transitions will give you an overview of the transition. Clicking on Effect Options allows you to change the direction or other options of the effect. Sounds allow you to have a sound on each Transition. Duration allows you to increase or decrease the duration or time of the effect.     There are three main categories of transitions that you choose from. They are:

  • Subtle(slight transitions)
  • Exciting(strong transitions)
  • Dynamic Content (strong transitions that affect only the content, such as text or images)

To apply a transition:

Select the slide you want to modify. Click the Transitions tab. Identify a transition under Transition to This Slide group. By default, none is applied to each slide. Click the More drop-down arrow to display all of the transitions.Click a transition to apply it to the selected slide. This will automatically preview the transition as well. Note: When adding transitions to the slides, you may use Apply to All command in the Timing group at any time to make your presentation uniform. But this command should be cautiously used as this may the sametransition to every slide and may also apply the same settings in the Timing group which you may not want to be the same throughout your presentation.

To preview a transition:

You can preview the transition for a selected slide at any time, using either Preview command on the Transitions tab or by using star Play Animations icon. The icon appears on the Slides tab in the left pane beside any slide that includes a transition.     Slide Transitions are an effective way to enhance the impact of the presentations. I believe the presentations are most effective when they are visually appealing. Applying transitions will not just appeal to the audience but it will also create a lasting impression about the presenter in the minds of the audience.    ]]>
