Define a new bullet in Word

When you are working with word documents, organisation of information in the document is critical to enhance the readability of the document. Bullets and numbered lists provide a brilliant way to list and organize information for a reader. The appearance of the document can be controlled easily with the help of Bullets and numbering lists.

 

You do not have to use the pre defined bullets always. You can define a new bullet for your document. Let us understand how we do that.

 

To define a new bullet

 

Step 1:

Select the text to which the bullets have to be added. On the Home Tab in the Paragraph group click on Bullets.

 

Under bullets click on Define a new bullet.

 

 

When you click on Define New Bullet, a new dialogue box will be displayed with options such as Symbol, Picture and Font.

 

To define a symbol as a bullet:

Select the text or bulleted list you want to change. On the Home Tab in the Paragraph group, click the arrow next to Bulleted List, and then click Define New Bullet.Click Symbol and then click the symbol you want to use.Click OK.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Change a bullet to a picture

Select the text or bulleted list you want to change.On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click the arrow next to Bulleted List, and then click Define New Bullet.Click Picture and then browse for your picture from a file or Bing Image Search.Click Insert.Review what the picture bullets will look like and click OK to add it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Change the bullet font

Select the text or bulleted list you want to change.On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click the arrow next to Bulleted List, and then click Define New Bullet.Click Font and then change the font properties to be used for the bullet. You can choose settings on the Font tab or Advanced tab. Afteer making all the necessary changes Click OK.
