The Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship 2017 presented by Certiport, the leading test delivery solution provider for the global workforce and academic markets is a global competition that tests students’ skills on Microsoft Office.
In its 16th year, the competition attracted more than 560,000 candidates from 122 countries to demonstrate their superior skills in Microsoft Word®, Excel®, and PowerPoint®.
To enter the competition, students aged 13 to 22 took a qualifying Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification exam to demonstrate their mastery of Microsoft Office products. Regional competitions were held worldwide and 157 student finalists competed in the final round of competition in Anaheim, California, USA from July 31 – August 2, 2017.
Alina Zaidi, the Microsoft Excel 2013 winner of Microsoft Office Specialist Championship UAE 2017 represented UAE for the 1st time in Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship 2017. In the concluding round, competitors participated in unique project-based tests to demonstrate their ability to create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations for the information presented in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Alina Zaidi gave her best shot in the competition and has made UAE proud by securing herself the Tenth Position in the Microsoft Office Specialist Global Ranking in the category Microsoft Excel 2013.
On being achieving Tenth position in Global Ranking, Alina says – “Yes, Dreams do come true”, all you need is ambition and lots of hard work. I did not get to top 3, but I was really surprised and glad to know that I ranked 10th. I feel proud”.
She also adds – “My achievements would never had been possible without Fame Training, to whom I am very thankful for the opportunity. I would also like to thank my family and my institute Bits Pilani, Dubai Campus for their support and encouragement”.
MOS certification is the only official Microsoft-recognized certification for Microsoft Office globally and serves as a powerful instrument for assessing student skills and preparing students for real-world application.
